Low is the light through the trees nearly night and yet day
Lacing the branches with flame in a gold interplay
Sun is sinking under clouds that blow me away
Golden edge of fire bringing beauty out of decay

Dark ever closer, cold night will cover the paths and the streams
Hiding the sleeping world retreating in wintry dreams
Sunset glowing as the golden rays disappear
Blaze of glory, short day story told for this year

And into the night, where are the longer days?
Bring back the light and wake up this sleeping place
with Sun, burn up the sky, it’s candles and fire making it day
The light banishes night, traces of dark splintered away

Looking back over the year I’m not sure that it all went my way
Maybe there’s one thing that’s clear, I should let it go for today
