about

" The AACM vibe is still very much in evidence, with a clear desire to join the dots between different elements of jazz heritage - very convincingly carried off. A satisfyingly adventurous release." - Daniel Spicer, Jazzwise

Martin Archer and Derek Saw were the founder members of the original Hornweb Sax Quartet which gigged and recorded extensively between 1982 and 1993 before splitting. Twelve years later, and joined by Charlie Collins, this trio version of the group retained the AACM inspiration but used a studio based methodology. We created 25 short structures using percussion and electronics, and used these as frameworks for our horn arrangements and improvisations. An attractive and kaleidoscopic journey unfolds across the resulting 60 minutes of music.
