While I could hear significant development in Holdsworth's playing between 1975 (Soft Machine) and 1978 (UK), hearing him in 1973 is a complete revelation. This disk shows that in 1973 he was an amazingly good guitarist. But the Holdsworth that we hear circa 1975-1978 is simply from another planet. Now I need to seek out his biographies so I can understand what happened to bring about this astonishing transition. docbobster
